Safe Woods

You can make your own perches! Just go out in your yard (or anywhere branches aren't sprayed with pesticides) and get some branches, as long as they are on this list!

Tip: Don't get dead branches off the ground! They are probably full of bugs! Get fresh branches, scrub them with hot water and dish soap (or boil them if they are small enough to fit in a pot), to clean them, and then bake them for 10 minutes at 450 degrees.

Safe Woods:

Apple
Arbutus
Ash
Aspen
Beech
Birch
Cottonwood
Crabapple
Dogwood
Elm
Fir
Hawthorn
Larch
Magnolia
Manzanita
Maples (I use, smell great when baking!)
Mulberry
Pear
Pine
Poplar
Sequoia (redwood)
Willow
